Description
Summary:Background: The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated challenges for adolescents, necessitating telehealth interventions to address mental health, quality of life (QOL), and postlockdown adaptability. Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and sustained impact of tele-yoga on mental health, QOL, and postlockdown school adaptability for adolescents in Kerala. Materials and Methods: An experimental study comparing a tele-yoga intervention group with a control group over 8 weeks. Outcomes were measured at baseline, postintervention using the Well-being of Children during Lockdown Scale, Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire, and World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF scales followed by 3-month postlockdown adaptability assessed via a semi-structured questionnaire. Results: Tele-yoga improved QOL, particularly in social and overall QOL domains. Mental health indicators showed minor improvements. Participants reported enhanced postlockdown school adaptability, including better focus and academic management. Conclusion: Tele-yoga shows promise as an accessible, effective intervention for improving adolescent QOL while supporting postlockdown school adaptability. Further research warrants the exploration of long-term engagement of yoga into school environments.
