Description
Summary:This paper examines the research formula of L'œil à la page, a survey conducted in 1979 by the Groupe Interuniversitaire de Documentation et d'Enquêtes Sociologiques (GIDES). The aim of the survey was to study the implementation of audiovisual material in eight municipal libraries, and it gave rise to several reports (book, report, articles). Both a commissioned survey and pedagogical research, it was also for Jean-Claude Passeron, its scientific director, the opportunity to test empirically Le Métier de sociologue and to prepare the writing of (Les) mots de la sociologie. As such, it can be considered as one of the empirical bases of the Le raisonnement sociologique. For this reason, this survey is caught between two theoretical boundaries: the one constituted by Le Métier de sociologue, which is its conceptual matrix, and, on the other hand, Le raisonnement sociologique, considered since its publication as a major contribution to the reflection on the epistemology of social sciences. Thanks to this description, which is based on the book, the report and the archives of the survey, this paper highlight a style of scientific thought and grasp the articulation of the Métier de Sociologue with the Raisonnement sociologique, in order to better understand the epistemology presented in those two books.
