Description
Summary:Purpose. Assessing the productive parameters of age-1+ tench grown in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) and studying their physiological state depending on feed composition Methodology. The study was conducted in RAS conditions at Karpatsky Vodogray LLC. Three 0.96 m3 tanks were used in the study. The stocking density of age-1 tench was 600 ind./m3, and the duration of cultivation was 225 days. For feeding, 3 options of artificial feeds from different manufacturers with different protein and fat contents were used, respectively – 44 and 9%; 46 and 10% and 54 and 15%. Sampling to study growth dynamics were carried out monthly. Analysis of basic haematological parameters was performed using an automatic biochemical analyser Miura 200. The activity of the antioxidant defence system of tench was determined in 10% homogenates of hepatopancreas tissues. The activity of superoxide dismutase enzymes was determined as the proportion of inhibition of the nitroblue tetrazolium reduction reaction in the presence of phenazine metasulfate, and catalase ‒ by the change in the concentration of H2O2. The concentration of lipid peroxidation products was investigated: diene conjugates by the optical density reaction of heptaneisopropanol lipid extract and malondialdehyde ‒ spectrophotometrically by the colour reaction with thiobarbituric acid. Findings. The study showed that when using feeds with a protein content of 44–56%, their average weight was 62.3–71.2 g with a survival rate of 93.1–97.4%, while their highest values were when fed Coppens Vital feed with a protein content of 46% and fat of 10%. At the same time, high haemoglobin content and blood erythrocyte count of age-1+ was established, which did not depend on feed composition and were, respectively, within the limits of 110.0–117.0 g/L and 1.75–1.95×1012/L. At this time, the proportion of leukocytes relative to erythrocyte count was highest when feeding with Coppens Advance feed ‒ 0.97%, and platelets ‒ when feeding with Coppens Vital feed ‒ 2.38%. The fish antioxidant defence system showed a balance according to the feedback principle, i.e. an increase in the level of antioxidant activity inhibited free radical oxidation. At the same time, the best values were observed in fish, which were fed feed with a protein content of 46%. Originality. For the first time in Ukrainian aquaculture, an assessment of the productive parameters of age-1+ tench in RAS conditions was provided, and the effect of feed of different formulae on blood parameters and the antioxidant defence system was analyzed. Practical Value. Based on the results obtained, a productive and biological justification will be provided for increasing the efficiency of fish reproducers for tench reproduction in Ukrainian aquaculture. At the same time, the study results are important for improving the theoretical foundations of tench reproduction and cultivation in industrial conditions and can be used in the educational process.
