description The history of micrography is divided into periods. The first period marks the nascence and initial results, spanning the years 1839-1930. The second period can be characterized as the archival period of micrography use. The main function of microforms during this time was the collection and preservation of various materials for use according to the needs of readers. The most primitive technical devices were used at that time. The 1970s are characterized by the active use of micrography. Computers and other modern technologies were widely used during this period. Microfiches began to surpass other microforms. Experiments with video and optical discs were carried out. Active competition among information carriers developed at that time. Microforms became an integral part of library work.
