| Summary: | IMPLEMENTATION OF THE UN WOMEN, PEACE AND SECURITY AGENDA IN POLAND
The article discusses the implementation of the United Nations Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda, focusing on its application in Poland. Despite advancements in promoting gender equality and women’s involvement in peace processes, significant challenges persist in operationalising the principles outlined in Security Council Resolution 1325. The study highlights the necessity of an inclusive approach for effective gender integration in defence and public policy realms, necessitating concrete measures to address structural inequalities. Poland’s National Action Plan for the WPS Agenda (NAP) is scrutinised regarding its symbolic significance and practical implications for women’s roles within the security apparatus. Emphasis is placed on reforming institutional culture, ensuring sufficient financial resources, and actively engaging women at all stages of peace processes. The importance of translating the agenda’s norms into national strategies and regulations is underscored, alongside the ongoing need for concerted efforts to enhance women’s representation across all facets of security decision-making.
