Description
Summary:Aim: To compare the clinical improvement of two-regimen treatment using esomeprazole alone vs quadruple therapy in non-ulcer Helicobacter Pylori (H. pylori) gastritis in Vietnamese’s children. Methods: A prospective study, carried out in 52 children, 5 to 11 years old, receive a quadruple therapy including 2 mg/kg/day esomeprazole, bismuth 8 mg/kg/day, amoxicillin 100 mg/kg/day and metronidazole 25 mg/kg/day for the first two weeks, then 2 mg/kg/day esomeprazole for the other two weeks. Results: Asymptomatic children after one month of treatment stopping were found in 34 children (58.6%). H. pylori eradication rate in intention to treat and per-protocol analysis showed a 31/55 (56.4%) and 31/52 (59.6%) patients after four weeks of treatment stopping. Conclusion: Quadruple regimen even with high dose of esomeprazole and amoxicillin combined metronidazole and bismuth showed a lower eradication rate and did not achieve the usual recommended rate > 90%.
