| description | This essay attempts to unfold the possible relations between life and writing on the basis of some authors who, in narratives of varying lengths, reflect on this unsolvable tension. In fact, all literature is dedicated to posing the problem of capturing life in writing, a form that by its very finiteness is condemned to the fragmentary mode, both before and after the existence of biography as a genre. Thus, from stories by Borges or Aira where the word "biography" is analysed or discarded to the melancholic meditations of the young Lukács on the end of the illusions of every novel, always paradoxically realistic, our reading also arrives at its own paradox: between life and the fragment there is no solution of continuity. The madness of a life is not recorded, it is not saved in the work. But nevertheless, in the birth of new writings, as in Acevedo's diaries, at times the trace, the impression, the enjoyment find their place in the very act of writing. |
