He initiates moral dimensions of life and components of identity, an element that he views as dynamic and extending beyond previous scholarship on this issue. The duality that Ricoeur introduces between selfhood and self-constancy suggests that the first underscores values that we are true to while the latter aligns with ethical actions that link personal motives to good life.
