Description
Summary:Abstract : Artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed the field of writing by providing multiple tools that enhance creativity, simplify editing, and offer personalized support for writers at all levels. This paper investigates the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing EFL students' writing skills at Tlemcen University, Algeria. The research focuses on the role of AI tools in improving academic writing among 80 second year students of English at the same university. Through qualitative and quantitative methods, including an interview and a questionnaire, the study explores students' experiences and attitudes toward using AI in their writing processes, particularly in essay composition. Findings revealed that the majority of students actively inculcate AI tools into their academic work, using them for drafting, editing, and refining their essays. They also asserted that AI has significant potential to improve language proficiency, offering personalized assistance and fostering greater engagement in the learning process. Ultimately, the outcomes highlighted the effectiveness of AI technology in improving students’ writing skills.  Keywords: Artificial intelligence, AI applications, English as a Foreign Language (EFL), learning process, writing skills.
