Summary:Abstract: Being fully aware of the importance of English language on both of national and international spectrum, Algeria, as other Arabic-speaking countries, integrates English in its educational system at all levels as a foreign language (FL). However, learners of that language often encounter various difficulties that lead to produce erroneous forms when using this language orally. Thus, the current research work is an attempt to describe spoken English language of the first year EFL learners’ at Ahmed SALHI University centre in Naama, Algeria. Besides, it aims at categorizing the errors to explore the factors behind. Thus, the qualitative and quantitative data have been collected through an interview with teachers and non-participant observation conducted in many EFL classes. Finally, the findings have revealed that EFL learners’ commitment of errors occur mainly on phonemic and grammatical levels into different categories. Furthermore, results provide a well-rounded understanding of the errors made by learners, evaluate their awareness of those errors, and suggest some teaching techniques to overcome those difficulties and help learners improve their oral communication.
