| Summary: | This article proposes the development of an optimal and robust control approach for the voltage regulation of a bi-directional DC-DC converter for its integration in battery energy storage and electric vehicle charging station applications. The objective of the proposed controller is to enhance the robustness and disturbance rejection capability of the bidirectional buck-boost converter. The inner current control loop adopts the optimal model predictive control (MPC) scheme while the outer voltage control loop has been developed utilizing the robust sliding mode control (SMC) approach. The results of the proposed robust & optimal control approach show better voltage conversion capabilities with improved transient response and steady-state characteristics in the presence of variations in load and disturbances. |
