description Magicians have a long-standing relationship with scientists. Illusionistic shows remain profoundly influenced by the communities that develop and share technological knowledge. . In return, these performances have stimulated and popularized original scientific thought. Using devices that are sometimes only at an experimental stage of development, they have questioned the process of illusionistic production alongside scientific discoveries inoptics, acoustics or electricity and reflected on the perceptual and psychological effects of the mechanization of performances. A hidden history of the scientific marvel emerges behind both technical progress and illusionistic shows.. Through three case studies that epitomize this form of popular show (the Aetherine Suspension/Remote Color Printing/and the Magic Kettle), this article purports to explore magical performances and their ambivalence towards the scientific marvel.
