| Summary: | Congenital heart defects are still a serious medical and social problem. The incidence of congenital heart defects varies widely and ranges from 2.4% to 14.15%. More than 30000 children with congenital heart defects are born worldwide every year. Ventricular septal defect is most often diagnosed (27-42%). A true companion of congenital heart defects is heart failure. A syndrome that develops as a result of diseases of the cardiovascular system and is characterized by the inability of the heart to provide systemic blood flow adequate to the metabolic needs of the body.
This article presents a clinical case of congenital heart disease (ventricular septal defect) in a newborn girl, complicated by the development of heart failure. |
