Description
Summary:The present article raises the question of what is the status of tolerance as a social theory in the mystical discourse of the seventh and eighth centuries. According to the present article, the strategies of power in the seventh and eighth centuries created conditions that brought the views of Muslim differences closer to each other and even Muslims to non-Muslims. One of these conditions is the indifference of theruling atheist Mongols towards different religions, which reduces the disturbance of the political balance in favor of a particular religion. The Mongols’ belief that the prayers of every citizen of any religion would be answered for the great khan provided the conditions for religious tolerance, a culture whose architects were Sufis and mystics. New possibilities gave Sufi values about tolerance to «others» socialacceptance and credibility. In fact, the idea of tolerance has a high place in the thought of mystics, but its social acceptance at this time is due to the willful and unwanted strategies of power.
