| Summary: | Based on the analysis of the documents delivered to the mestre de campo general Roque da Costa Barreto when he was sent to the Portuguese America. Among those documents is the regiment of the General Government. This article focuses on the analysis of his administration between the years of 1678 and 1682, specially regarding questions about the protection and conservation of the American territory. Including in this subject were the commitments of settlers regarding their benefit from the land, witch I believe were areas concerning the effective management of the governadores-gerais. |
