description The article examines the consequences of the First World War on prehistoric studies in the specific context of Franco-German relations. He studies, from France, to what extent and how this conflict led to a reconfiguration of uses and knowledge. It sets out to establish the situation at the end of the war, the failure of internationalism and the rise of patrimonial nationalisms. It tackles two particular aspects of this intellectual field after the armistice of 1918: the difficulty to relaunch the approach internationalist of the International Congresses of Prehistoric Anthropology and Archeology and France’s view of Germany during the inter-war period.
