Description
Summary:As a common outcome of various chronic kidney diseases (CKD),end-stage renal disease (ESRD) may progress to an advanced stage and concurrent infection is quite common. Infection is the most common cause of hospitalization and the second leading cause of mortality in ESRD patients. Thus it is imperative to clarify the differential expression of blood biomarkers of non-infected and infected ESRD patients for early diagnosis and timely treatment of ESRD-complicated infection. This review summarized the commonly used and newly discovered biomarkers at home and abroad. And their clinical significance was discussed for detecting co-infection in ESRD patients.
