Description
Summary:The evolution of the essence of the concept of «sustainable development», the formation of the concept of sustainable development and the main models of sustainable development were studied. The main stages of development were formed, the features and characteristic signs of its formation were determined. It was determined that the concept of sustainable development has gone through several key stages of evolution – from its inception, awareness of environmental threats to the integration of sustainability principles in the business model. It was established that sustainable development models evolved from basic principles (Triple Bottom Line, Brundtland) to deeper economic analysis (capital approach, natural capital) and practical solutions (circular economy, green economy). In the 21st century, the emphasis is shifting to new approaches, such as regenerative economy and bio economy, which use technologies for sustainable development. It was studied that modern enterprises are actively implementing the principles of sustainable development through: implementing an environmental management strategy (ISO 14001, ESG standards); social responsibility of business (stakeholder engagement, inclusive governance); introduction of innovative technologies (green energy, circular economy). However, an analysis of the report on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2024 showed that in Ukraine only 25 % of the goals has significant progress in implementation, while almost 44 % demonstrate minimal or moderate progress and more than a third have stopped altogether or regressed (31 %). The reasons for this situation have been identified. In addition to global problems, Ukraine faces obstacles inherent to our country in the context of russian aggression. These are war and destruction of infrastructure – a decrease in economic potential, population migration, loss of investment. At the same time, the war has caused an energy crisis (there is an urgent need to restore the energy system, switch to renewable sources). As a result, social instability (increased poverty, loss of jobs, psychological crisis). As a result of hostilities, we also have environmental challenges – environmental pollution, the need for land reclamation. Key problems in implementing the SDGs at the enterprise level have been identified. Specific ways out of the crisis that meet the Sustainable Development Goals have been proposed and substantiated: diversification of markets and integration into global supply chains; transition to energy efficiency and renewable energy; localization of production and relocation of business; digitalization of business and automation; social responsibility and support for employees; stimulation of investments and international partnership.
