Description
Summary:Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is widespread worldwide and remains one of the unsolved problems of modern gynecology. Although POP is not a life-threatening disease, it has a significant impact on the quality of life of women. One of the most significant risk factors for POP is age. With an increase in life expectancy in general, the number of women seeking medical care and the number of surgeries is growing significantly. The high frequency of surgical interventions for POP requires greater attention to the prevention of this pathology. Knowledge of risk factors not only contributes to the development of preventive strategies, but also helps in counseling patients before surgery.
