Summary:The article is interdisciplinary in its nature: it involves the areas of neurology, endocrinology and gynecology, and specifically embraces the important problem of using combined oral contraceptives. Thus, the types and side effects of commonly used contraceptive agents are described and discussed. The authors also focus on migraines in women during their periods; to that end, pathogeneses of different types of migraine are analyzed. The relationship between various types of migraines and the use of hormonal contraceptives is discussed. This discussion is supplemented with alternative ways of the women migraine treatment.
