description Teaching a foreign language in a guided environment involves spatial and temporal constraints dictated by the institution when teaching takes place in an ordinary class. However, learning a language mobilizes all body in communication and interaction with consequences not only cognitive but also emotional, relational and cultural. In China, the educational culture is based on the transmission of mainly linguistic knowledge, there is no much time for speaking. Many students have difficulties to understand and to produce, especially in the field of prosodic fluidity. Some emotions and speech acts are not expressed in the same way in East and West and may lead to misunderstandings. The introduction of dramatic practices allows a clear improvement of the oral and a better self-confidence to speak and to interact. These practices are still marginal, the playfulness being often considered by the Chinese students themselves as a work lacking seriousness. However, teachers notice a real improvement in oral skills among motivated students.
