description OBJECTIVE. The study determined an optimal method of surgical treatment of Zenker-diverticulum. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The patients (12 men) were examined using X-ray contrasting of the esophagus and fibroesophagoscopy. The planned diverticulectomy from cervical access was performed on all patients. RESULTS. The treatment was without complications and the patients had favorable outcomes and good long-term results. CONCLUSIONS. The open diverticulectomy using cervical access is the operation of choice.
