| Summary: | In recent years, the social and memorial dynamics, but also the scholarly and political discourse, have not ceased to highlight certain sites of collective Rifian memory. These places of memory (marginality, dissidence) are closely linked and overlap with other processes in the attempt to produce a new narrative of this territory. The first step is to understand how the construction of the marginality of this territory is concomitant with the building of its historical dissidence. In a second step, it will be explained through the example of the patrimonialization of an archaeological site, Al Mazamma, how other constructions, obeying alternative logics, tend to supplant the discourses of the enclavement and marginality and to give the territory another identity. In fact, patrimonialization implies, most often, a territorial (re)construction, in material and symbolic terms. It thus confers on the territory an “identity” that distinguishes it from other territories and that simultaneously constitutes active resources for its economic and tourist exploitation. |
