Summary:In this study, sound-based sentence method and analysis method using in literacy education are compared based on teacher’s views. The study was conducted with 30 classroom teachers selected from 10 primary schools in Kilis province center in 2008-2009 education year. Survey method and informal interview were used for data collection. Descriptive analysis method was used for data analysis. Obtained data was grouped and interpreted. According to research findings, teachers approve that sound-based sentence method is better than analysis method to learn reading, to understand texts and to develop ability for handwriting in first grades. On the other hand, analysis method is better than sound-based sentence method in reading speed
