description How does the volunteer’s place in the schooling of UAMs (Un Accompanied Minors) come about? How can the intimate history of the volunteer have an impact on the way in which he or she approaches teaching and the relationship with the young minor? It is at the crossroads of several psychoanalytical, sociological, and pedagogical fields (Beillerot et al., 1989, 2000; Blanchard-Laville et al., 1996; De Gaulejac et al. 2007) that we wish to provide some answers. We rely on semi-structured interviews with Blue and Bernadette, two volunteers from an association for the education of young migrants in the Toulouse region. Our results take the form of two case constructions reflecting their volunteer position about their intimate history. The discussion will focus on the impact of identification and projection in the teaching practice and on the processes of racisation elaborated by sociology.
