Field behavioral responses of male diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella to different components, ratios and dosages of synthetic sex attractant in China

Trapping experiments were set up in Chinese cabbage field to test the potential for improving lures for pheromone traps of diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella in China. The field test showed that catch was improved by adding 0.01% of (Z) -9-tetradcenyl acetate to lures that are currently used in C...

description Trapping experiments were set up in Chinese cabbage field to test the potential for improving lures for pheromone traps of diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella in China. The field test showed that catch was improved by adding 0.01% of (Z) -9-tetradcenyl acetate to lures that are currently used in China. Traps were significantly more attractive to the male adults in the field baited with ternary blends of (Z) -11-hexadecenal, (Z) -11-hexadecenyl acetate and (Z) -11-hexadecenol in 7∶3∶1 ratio than those baited in other ratios of ternary blends. Lures captured more males when loaded with four-component mixtures of (Z) -11-hexadecenal, (Z) -11-hexadecenyl acetate, (Z) -11-hexadecenol and (Z) -9-tetradecenyl acetate in a ratio of 70∶30∶10∶0.01 at the dose of 10 μg than at other doses, which are recommended for the use in male trapping in China.
