Summary:The paper chronicles the history of two military formations within German armed forces, with the Muslims from Stara Raška being their backbone. The focus is on the SS legion, i.e. the reasons of its establishment and restructuring, and all events occurring between the two. The prosopographical study has also been given indicating the position of the Muslim legionaries from Stara Raška within the regional, social and economic context. The paper has been drawn up on the basis of the archival material kept in Military Archives, State Archives and the Archives of Yugoslavia, all being located in Belgrade, Historical Archive “Ras” in Novi Pazar, i.e. Federal Archives of Germany in Berlin.
