description This article compares the perceived waiting time of cyclists at signalized intersections with their actual waiting time. We also examine the relationship between demographics (age and gender) and perceived waiting time. Data was collected from May 13 to May 19, 2019 (N = 238). Our analysis shows that cyclists considerably overestimate waiting time by a factor of five. Equally relevant, we observe that neither age nor gender influences perceived waiting time since no significant differences were found.
