Summary:The aim o f this study is to cali attention to t he Statistical Methods used in Li.brary and Information Sciences. Resıılts of a se.arch are given over Journals, found in “Library Science and Information Science” Category in SSCI, in order to reveal which Statistical Methods are used more frequently. This work was done using a total o f 1864 papers that appeared in the highest impact factored journals between 1991-97. In the first part, a brief summary o f some basic statistical terms and a subjective classification o f methods is given. A fter the restrictions o f this study are mentioned, distribution of Methods among Journals, distribution o f Advanced Methods according to main topics o f Statistics, an ordering o f sub-topics in each heading are given. As a result, in approximately 69% of papers, quantitative methods (Descriptive and Advanced Statistics, Operation Research and Mathematics) have been used. 32% o f all papers have used advanced statistical methods. Besides, it was observed that the subjects Multivariate Statistical Methods and Stochastic Processes have an increasing concentration in Library and Information Science.
