The discussion will cover key aspects of effective UT, including preparation as well as the importance of maintaining optimal on-site conditions for accurate data acquisition. We will focus on inspection of bolts in field conditions, where environmental factors and access constraints can significantly impact test outcomes. Additionally, factors such as bolt surface conditions, test setup and conditions that influence ultrasonic transmission and acquisition will be explored. Finally, the discussion will offer recommendations on how to mitigate common challenges, improve signal transmission, and enhance data interpretation, thus optimizing the overall effectiveness of ultrasonic bolt inspections.
