description By simulation, the effects of the inhibitor phenyl phosphorodiamidate (PPD) on the kinetics of urease were studied in the main 4 soils of Northeast China at 10, 20℃ and 30 ℃. The results show that effects of PPD on kinetic parameters of soil urease were significantly influenced by soil fertility, incubation time, incubation temperature and their interactions. Compared with control, PPD increased the Km but decreased the Vmax and Vmax/Km of soil urease, suggesting that the action mechanism of PPD is of competitive inhibition. With incubation time increasing, the kinetic parameters, Km, Vmax and Vmax/Km, of PPD treatment increased, suggesting the effectiveness of PPD on soil urease gradually weakened. The Km and Vmax increased with increasing incubation temperature, while Vmax/Km values had no definite change pattern. The kinetics of soil urease differed with soil types. The urease in black soil and albic soil had larger values of Km and Vmax than those in brown soil and cinnamon soil, but Vmax/Km had no significant differences, indicating that the kinetic parameters of soil urease were significantly influenced by soil type. Statistical analysis presented that there were significant correlations between the kinetic parameters of soil urease and the physiochemical characteristics of test soils.
