Summary:In this paper there are studied Cartas marruecas, composed by the Colonel Don José Cadalso y Vázquez, as a novel of the Enlightenment. The novelistic context that fall is plotted. The narrative traditions that converge in the text and explain the composition that it has received are identified: Cervantes and Don Quixote, the epistolary novels, autobiographical fictions, travel books, the satirical novels of customs… The circumstances of its creation and its first reception are explained. Its text is analyzed, paying attention to the layout of its action, the resources used, the study of their characters, the contents that addresses, the thesis that the author wishes to convey to their receptors, the problem of their local customs.
