Summary:Based on synthesis and analysis of traditional snow-load calculation method, an improvement was proposed with an aim of reflecting snow-load of the vault curve characteristics more exactly. Optimization of the vault tangential angle of East-China multi-span greenhouse was attained, which was accomplished by applying the principle of maximum snow-load bearing capacity. Meanwhile, taking the mutual shading effect of the neighboring spans into account, the direct solar radiation of arc vault of both east-west and south-north oriented multi-span greenhouse at noon on the day of winter solstice was calculated using the curvilinear integral method. Our result showed that greenhouse would have maximum snow-load bearing capacity when its vault tangential angle was in the range of 15°-20°, whereas the solar radiation collection ability of greenhouse was not significantly affected by variation in tangential angle of the vault.
