description The application of numerical simulation methods in coal mining is extensive, particularly in simulating complex geological conditions and variable mechanical environments. These methods provide crucial research tools for predicting dynamic changes in surrounding rock, stress distribution, and potential issues arising from mining activities. In numerical simulation studies of coal seam extraction, the accurate setting of coal and rock strata parameters is key to achieving simulation precision. To provide more accurate parameter settings for numerical simulations of coal seam extraction, thousands of mechanical parameters from over 100 mines across China were collected and organized. Using MATLAB for classification and organization, a reference dataset for the numerical simulation parameters of coal and rock strata was constructed. Based on this dataset, methods for setting and dynamically optimizing the credibility weights of data from various provinces are presented. A multidimensional data analysis was conducted to explore the differences and distribution patterns of mechanical parameters across various regions, revealing their distribution characteristics and diversity in different geological areas. The results indicate that the data reliability weights are higher in regions such as Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Inner Mongolia, where research activities are more concentrated. The mechanical parameter data points for coal seams are mainly concentrated in the burial depth range of 200 to 690 meters, showing specific trends and characteristics. Parameters such as bulk modulus, shear modulus, elastic modulus, and cohesion exhibit significant variability in practical applications. Statistical analysis of different lithologies shows that siltstone and fine sandstone are the most common in research, with noticeable differences in their mechanical properties. Medium sandstone has the widest distribution in bulk modulus and elastic modulus, while limestone exhibits high stability across multiple parameters. Moreover, through the analysis of simulation mechanical parameters of coal seams and primary lithologies in different regions, a reference system for the value ranges and outlier detection of numerical simulation mechanical parameters for coal-bearing strata was developed. This system enables rapid querying of coal-rock layer mechanical parameters, outlier detection, and custom dataset import and analysis. It aims to provide more scientific reference bases and convenient tools and methods for determining mechanical parameters in numerical simulation studies of coal-bearing strata.
