| Summary: | This article introduces forms of meta-discourse that specifically concern contribution level. After recalling how the notions of contribution and statement have been confused for a long time by contemporary pragmatics (starting from Grice), we briefly present the main conclusions of more recent works which have made it possible to characterize contributions as a set of utterances which contribute to the definition of the attentional field. We then define and illustrate both meta-contribution in its diverse uses and meta-discursive comments, including prosodic comments. We finally attempt to explain how the latter two notions structure the reality of exchanges in dialogues. |
