| Summary: | The introduction of daily physical education has altered the infrastructural and workforce requirements of educational institutions. Our aim is to assess the infrastructural elements related to physical education based on complex criteria in the schools of the Southern Transdanubian region. Our questionnaire was evaluated based on responses from 248 public educational institutions in the region. The basic and differentiated infrastructural needs, which are essential to the effectiveness of teaching, were determined based on the opinions of physical education teachers and the curriculum. A scoring system was developed to evaluate the infrastructural conditions of physical education on a per-school basis, allowing for categorization and comparison of the institutions. According to our results, gym are available in 90% of the facilities, but outdoor sports fields and spaces necessary for athletics education are lacking to a much greater extent. In the case of differentiated infrastructure, for example, only 15 schools have a swimming pool. From a territorial aspect, examining the issue with thematic maps at both municipal and district levels, it can be said that, on average, schools in larger cities and economically more developed areas are in a more favorable position. To ensure effective, uniform quality operation, immediate basic infrastructural investments are justified. |
