description | The maintenance scheduling of wind units can be analyzed through the lens of an Independent System Operator (ISO) with goals that encompass cost minimization, enhanced system reliability, or improved social welfare. Nevertheless, the maintenance scheduling of wind units ought to be distinct as a result of factors including the relatively low operating costs associated with wind units and the endeavor to optimize the utilization of wind energy. Simultaneous execution of thermal unit scheduling is not feasible. This calls for the development of a novel method for the maintenance scheduling of wind turbines. In a restructured power system, there is a clear delineation between equipment ownership and operation, leading equipment owners to pursue increased profitability. This article presents a methodology for the maintenance scheduling of wind units, focusing on the perspective of power plant owners. The primary objective is to minimize the financial losses incurred during the outage period of these units. The Price-Based Unit Commitment (PBUC) model is employed for this purpose. The estimation of wind speed in the prediction region is conducted by utilizing wind speed data from the study period and employing the Weibull probability density function. Subsequently, the estimated power generation of wind turbines is calculated by referencing the power curve specific to these turbines. In order to address the concept of reality, uncertainty in power estimation is represented through the utilization of a normal distribution and considered within the framework of the unit commitment problem. Following that, numerical computations are performed for an IEEE-RTS (Reliability Test System). The proposal to the ISO involves determining the outage period of units, with a focus on prioritizing the minimization of the least profit loss or minimum loss. Subsequently, the ISO exercises its authority to determine the acceptance or rejection of proposals by employing reliability criteria. |
