| Summary: | This article examines the project designed by Italian architect Gino Valle for IBM in La Défense, France, from 1984 to 1989. It describes the development of the Michelet district, in which the project is located, historically and up until today. The project’s critical stance towards its surrounding environment is analyzed according to the themes of siting principles and tectonics. Further, the building’s evaluation process is presented in relation to the attitudes adopted for its preservation, namely concerning its façade, which is entirely stone cladded. |
