| Summary: | Cecal volvulus is a rare but serious complication that can occur in association with anomalies of intestinal rotation, particularly in the setting of a complete common mesentery. This congenital anomaly results from improper embryologic rotation of the primitive intestinal loop, leading to abnormal bowel mobility and a predisposition to volvulus. We report the case of a 43-year-old man with a history of goiter, who was admitted for evaluation of a 5-day history of bowel obstruction, marked by cessation of stool and gas passage, persistent vomiting, and unquantified weight loss. Cross-sectional imaging, especially computed tomography, played a pivotal role in establishing the diagnosis. The patient underwent surgical intervention with a favorable postoperative outcome. |
