Description
Summary:Pickering foams are prepared with the microcrystalline cellulose(MCC) particles as raw materials and surfactantcetyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTAB) as surfactant, and Na Cl is added to change the ionic concentration. The volume change of Pickering foam with the time is used to study the influence of microcrystalline cellulose particle, surfactant, and the ionic concentration change on the foamability and foam stability. The results show that the MCC particles are surface-active and cannot stabilize aqueous foams alone. When the concentrations is less than or equal to the cmc(0.9 mmol/L), it starts to foam, but the foamability and foam stability of the aqueous solutions of cationic surfactant CTAB are low. While the Pickering foams stabled by the MCC and CTAB together can have good foamability in the low concentration of CTAB aqueous solutions, the foamability increases with the increase of CTAB concentration and the foam volume. Besides, the interaction between MCC particles and CTAB is weakened by adding the Nacl. When the Na Cl concentration is higher, the Pickering foam volume decreases, the foamability and foam stability decreases too.
