| description | <p>The <strong>8<sup>h</sup> conference</strong> <strong><a href="http://mech.fsv.cvut.cz/nmm2017/en/" target="_blank">Nano & Macro Mechanics</a> </strong>was held in Prague, in September 21, 2017. The conference was organized by <a href="https://mech.fsv.cvut.cz/web/index.php?&lang=en" target="_blank"><span class="title2">Department of Mechanics</span></a>,<a href="http://www.fsv.cvut.cz/index.php" target="_blank"> Faculty of Civil Engineering</a>, <a id="tinymce" class="mceContentBody " dir="ltr" href="https://www.cvut.cz/en" target="_blank">Czech Technical University in Prague</a>.</p><p>The main objective of the conference is to bring together researchers and engineers devoting their work to computing and experimental mechanics in different areas of engineering applications on a common platform.</p><p>The conference objectives were following:</p><ul><li>Testing of building materials at the nano and macro level.</li><li>Destructive and non-destructive methods for determining the mechanical properties of buildings materials.</li><li>Relationships between material parameters at nano and macro level.</li><li>Numerical simulations of behavior of structures and materials.</li><li>Computational and experimental dynamics and mechanics.</li><li>Material research for steel, buildings materials, glass, woods, textiles and composites.</li><li>Analyses of constructions.</li><li>Computational methods for analyses of the constructions.</li></ul><p> We strongly believe that NMM 2017 has a significant impact on the development of contemporary analytical, numerical and experimental methods in mechanics and will also create an opportunity for opening a forum for discussion and collaboration among the participants.</p><p>This Issue of Acta Polytechnica Proceedings contains the papers presented in the topic of the conference on Nano & Macro Mechanics 2017.
