| Summary: | Manufacturing automation in prefabrication factories (MAPF) is a critical means of enhancing the level of digitalization and intelligence in the constrution industry. However, there hasn’t been much research done to look at the complex interactions between the primary factors influencing MAPF. This study attempts to fill the gap by identifying the motivators behind this topic from the perspectives of the macroenvironment, technology, manufacturing management, and human resources. A questionnaire survey was conducted among 29 professionals to ascertain their attitudes regarding the relationship between the 16 factors selected. The DEMATEL-AISM qualitative research method was used to look at the relationships and importance of the factors in the actual implementation of MAPF. In the context of China, the results reveal that macro-investment stands out as the most significant key factor. Moreover, there is a strong correlation between senior management and stakeholders, competitive advantage, and the robustness of equipment with other factors. While policy, regulations, and robots are the three root drivers. The results shed light on significant factors and their intricate relationships that are necessary for the ongoing utilization of MAPF for researchers, policymakers, and end users of prefabrication factories in the construction sector. |
