Summary:The paper presents analysis of the primary survey data of the radiation situation in the South-Eastern Sakhalin region (Korsakov district and Kunashir and Shikotan islands) and preliminary assessment of the impact of releases from the Fukushima NPP accident in Japan on the radioactive contamination level of the area and the environment. Possible annual internal exposure doses of population of these territories are conservatively assessed on the basiс of the results of radiometric and gamma-spectrometric investigations of local foodstuffs samples.
