| Summary: | The study of interpellation can provide a lot of information upon the functioning of institutions. As it refers simultaneously to speakers’ positions, status and identities, interpellation acts as a mirror of the whole institutional communication process. In France, the 2002-2 legislation laying down that the operation of medical and social aid institutions had to be valued, shed light on the employees’ communicational practices. Auxiliary nurses for the disabled, who are daily close to not or not easy speaking people, could then strike the balance of their own practices of interpellation. They discovered how these could affect their relationship with patients, patients’ families, and colleagues. When answering to the searcher asking them if the internal training provided made a change in their professional practising, they use to resort to direct discourse, so as to revive, analyze and comment the faulty interpellations as well as the subsequent internal debates. Auto-interpellation then reveals itself as the effect of the internalization of the training authority upon endophasy. |
