| Summary: | With global climate change and accelerated urbanization, the thermal performance of building facade color reflectance has a significant impact on the thermal environment and energy consumption of cities. In this study, the spectral reflectance and color properties of 36 color samples were measured, and their thermal performance was tested under outdoor conditions in winter and summer as well as calculated and evaluated for winter and summer composite temperature indices. Then the effect of different spectral bands on the building surface temperature index was further quantified using a factor detection model, revealing that the interaction of the 600–800 nm and 1200–1400 nm bands has a significant effect on the thermal performance. In addition, it was found that the interaction effect between different bands significantly enhanced the thermal performance of building facades. This study proposes an innovative design strategy for building facade materials by precisely modulating the spectral selectivity of the materials to achieve high reflectivity and high thermal potential in the near-infrared region along with specific color performance. In the long term, this strategy helps to achieve sustainable urban development, combat global climate change by reducing energy consumption in buildings and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and has a positive impact on the city's long-term energy planning and environmental policies. |
