Summary:To enhance the weld process of the new type of clad rebar construction in the marine environment, the weld process of the clad rebar was established. Four different weld processes were used to weld the clad rebars. The microscopy of the welded joints was examined using a optical microscope. The mechanical characteristics of the welded specimens were assessed through the microhardness test. The corrosion resistant of the welded materials was evaluated using an electrochemical corrosion test. The corrosion morphology and element distribution were observed using scanning electron microscopy. The consequences depicted that arc welding has little effects on the microstructure of welded joints, and the hardness values of stainless steel welding metals, ranked from highest to lowest, are as follows: Metal Active Gas (MAG) welding at 115 A welding current, Arc welding, Metal Inert Gas (MIG), and Metal Active Gas (MAG) welding at 230 A welding current. According to the results of corrosion experiments, the welding metal from Arc welding exhibited the highest corrosion resistance, followed by the MAG welding at 230 A, MIG welding, and MAG welding at 115 A. After combining the microscopy, mechanical characteristics, and corrosion resistance, it was found that Arc welding is the most reasonable of the four welding processes. Select the most proper weld processes parameters, moreover, it lays a scientific foundation to establish the subsequent welding processes of the clad steel bars.
