Description
Summary:The article presents results of research done for evaluation of the average annual equivalent equilibrium volumetric activity of radon isotopes in the air of premises of child educational institutions located in the territory of a number of Russian Federation subject territories. It is shown that the indicator value for some buildings of these institutions exceeds not only the norm of 200 Bq/m3 for the existing public buildings, specified in the Radiation Safety Norms-99/2009 (NRB-99/2009), but even the level of 400 Bq/m3, demanding according to the item 5.1.4 of the Main Sanitary Rules for Radiation Safety -99/2010 (OSPORB-99/2010) that the issue of reprofiling of the building or part of premises must be considered when this level is exceeded. The experience of collaboration between Rospotrebnadzor Administration with the Administration of the Federation subject territory and municipalities for implementation of targeted radon mitigation measures at child preschool and school institutions is presented on an example of Sain-Petersburg.
