Abstract: Homelessness is a difficult social phenomenon, dependent on many factors, including quantitative issues, dynamics of the phenomenon, perception by the society, changes in the structure of the homeless population, the scale of the needs of homeless people, and reasons for exclusion from social and professional activity. The image of homelessness in Poland refers to socio-demographic data (number of homeless people, place of residence, reasons, age, education, time of being homeless, sources of income, etc.) and the state and society's perception of homelessness and the homeless. The protection of people in the crisis of homelessness is conditioned by law, from the Constitution to laws and regulations. Social assistance is organized by central and local government administration bodies, cooperating with social organizations and individuals. Many Polish and international organizations support overcoming the homelessness crisis.
