Description
Summary:Although its disciplinary aspect, it was in the seminars of the Associação Brasileira de Literatura Comparada (ABRALIC), during the 1990‘s that an interesting dialogue between cultural and literary studies took place. Such dialogue had also many opponents, i.e., critics who appreciated, among others, Occidental Civilisation values, defended the literary cannon and the specificity of the literary text. I analyze in this article an ensemble of discourses from significant agents of these two trends in confrontation. My goal is to apprehend advances and regressions of a fruitful relationship that, however, was left behind in the process of professionalization and specialization of the field.
