description The problems of open die for spiral bevel gears are described,a new closed extrusion technology and new structure of spiral bevel gears are presented.The floating cavity die and floating die core structure are adopted and the workpiece with no fin is formed in a closed die cavity constructing by two cavity dies and two die cores.The process experiment shows that with the new technology,the forging deforming force,the cost of material and production can be evidently decreased and the operating life of the die and the production efficiency is increased.
